I'm a Software Engineer with over 8 years of experience helping companies from early-stage startups to Fortune 500s attain new levels of innovation, operational efficiency, and overall organizational success.
Having lived in a few countries, including the US and UK, I was born and raised in Brazil, I’m someone who learned early on that the classic education path to career success wasn’t the one for me. To date, I spent some time studying Systems Engineering at one of the best universities in Brazil, explored a BSc in Management briefly, attained several coinciding certifications such as a Deep Learning Nanodegree from Udacity and a few cloud certifications, and am currently finishing a Computer Science degree at the University of London. But as an advocate for lifelong self-improvement, I found that real, deep-end experiences were the key to personal and professional growth. With that as my base, I began working as a software engineer, developer, and team lead for several organizations, including (but not limited to) early startup businesses such as Leep to illustrious names like the YMCA, Accenture, Amazon, and more recently, Velocity Global.
Establishing both myself and my career on a foundation of integrity, I’m a longstanding Software Engineer with over 8 years of experience helping companies from early-stage startups to Fortune 500s attain new levels of innovation, operational efficiency, and overall organizational success. Heavily focused on people, progress, and large-picture progression, I bring with me extensive expertise involving system lifecycles, software design/integration, programming languages, coding principles, and the art of fostering healthy workplace environments via leading with a moral compass and an open mind. Even more, I enjoy leveraging that dynamicity to not only exceed end-user expectations, but do so all while supporting the next-gen push for accessible technology and creative innovation.
Overall, technology and software innovations have come a long way since the modern-age boom, and I fully enjoy leveraging its ongoing introductions to solve real-world problems – regardless of whether it’s part of my job description or not. However, on the occasions when I’m plugged-in or relentlessly learning/developing, you can often find me cooking, enjoying Inline Hockey when the opportunity arises, taking on DIY projects, and as a singer who plays seven instruments, fulfilling my unprecedented passion for all things music.
Throughout my career I've played an integral part in securing measurable impacts that have helped propel business initiatives forward across national and international scales. Examples include internationalizing Amazon’s operational systems, developing a Smart Energy platform for one of the world's largest metal and mining companies - leading to a 30% savings in annual energy costs, and utilizing machine learning to predict failures in a factory with a model accuracy of 99.5% while at Accenture. But more characteristically, I’ve become known for treating everyone across an organizational pipeline with respect, proving real experiences can sometimes be more fruitful than degrees, and for my firm belief that strong results stem from the formation of strong, shared-value teams.
Velocity Global is a leading provider of global expansion solutions for businesses looking to expand their operations internationally. As part of the company, I am the Pod Tech Lead for the IAM team, which is responsible for managing the authorization and authentication processes across all of our systems. Using distributed systems built on top of AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and DynamoDB, we ensure secure access to our systems while utilizing a range of technologies, including TypeScript, Node.js, React, and GraphQL. In this role, I am responsible for leading and guiding our team toward the best technical path as we work to provide comprehensive digital solutions for our clients and support the company's global expansion efforts.
As the Tech Lead at TopTal, I had the opportunity to work on an enterprise ticketing platform built with a range of technologies, including Python, Django, React, Typescript, Javascript, PostgreSQL, and AWS.One of my primary responsibilities was leading the migration and modernization of the system's infrastructure, which required close collaboration with various stakeholders both within and outside the company. I was able to guide the team toward achieving the goals we set together, ensuring that the platform was efficient, reliable, and user-friendly.
At Amazon, I was fortunate enough to work on a number of global scale projects as part of the International Technology team, also known as InTech. Our team is responsible for internationalizing the company's operational systems, and I had the opportunity to work on the warehousing systems to ensure smooth and efficient operations across the globe.
Working on these projects presented a number of interesting challenges, both culturally and technologically. I was able to utilize a range of state-of-the-art technologies including Typescript, React, Kotlin, Java, and Node.js, all built on top of AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDb, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, and QLDB.
It was an incredible experience being able to work on such impactful projects and I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned and grown so much during my time at Amazon. At Amazon, I was fortunate enough to work on a number of global scale projects as part of the International Technology team, also known as InTech. During my time at Accenture, I was fortunate enough to work with three global scale clients on exciting and challenging projects. One of my standout experiences was developing a predictive maintenance algorithm for a leading automobile manufacturer. Our goal was to predict when a specific machine was likely to fail and identify the root cause of the failure. Using machine learning, we were able to achieve an impressive model accuracy of 99.5% based on the area under the ROC curve. In addition to this project, I also helped develop a Smart Energy platform for one of the world's largest metals and mining companies. Written in Django and React, this application was designed to streamline the process of managing and purchasing energy credits and is expected to result in a 30% yearly savings on energy bills.
Lastly, I served as the technical leader of a team responsible for the integration layer between our client's manufacturing execution systems and their ERP platform. We used REST and SOAP interfaces to facilitate communication between various global facilities. This project's highlight was the ability to interface with several stakeholders across the client, a world leader in mining and manufacturing.Overall, my time at Accenture was incredibly rewarding and allowed me to expand my skills and knowledge in the field of software engineering.
Rock Content is a leading digital content marketing platform that helps businesses create and distribute high-quality content to drive results. During my time at Rock Content, I was given the challenge of standardizing the operations of the Professional Services team.
Working in a fast-growing company requires a quick learning curve and a constant ability to adapt to change, so a critical and analytical mindset is key. In this role, I was responsible for proposing consistent solutions for the smooth operation of the company. One of the projects I worked on was the development of the tasq.rocks software, a management system for content tasks (http://staging.tasq.rocks). I collaborated closely with various stakeholders, both inside and outside of the company, to bring this solution to fruition.
Another highlight of my time at Rock was a solution I created for the Advanced Content team. They used to spend an average of one hour per content on interview transcriptions, so I applied my knowledge of Machine Learning to create a transcription algorithm that saved the company around R$10k per month.
Overall, my time at Rock Content was filled with exciting challenges and the opportunity to make a real impact on the company's operations.
